The Kalona Area Chamber of Commerce is continuing the tradition that started in 1985 by hosting a booth at  the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines, through August 21st.
In addition to Director at the Kalona Area Chamber of Commerce Tonia Poole, Fair Hosts Mattie Hershberger of Kalona Chocolates and Grace Schumann of Stitch N Sew Cottage are there through the entire event schedule.
Currently there are items from 12 different Kalona businesses on display and for sale at the fair, along with literature about the area.
Poole shares volunteers are always welcome to work the booth at the State Fair, “We have just neighbors, just community members, that they don’t necessarily have businesses, but they just enjoy supporting the cause like letting people know about this great community that we live in and being able to connect with passerbyers.  So, you don’t have to be in the business way to be involved to be part of the booth at the fair.”
