Vacation Bible School ended recently for the Holy Family Parish. The program ran from August 8th to August 11th, from 6-8pm. The program typically has around thirty children ages four to twelve enrolled, but this year the program had a remarkable forty-six enrolled. In addition to a large group, the Vacation Bible School attracted a large number of volunteers too. With nine junior assistants (ages 10, 11, and 12) and eleven youth group leaders (individuals in Middle-School and High-School). Throughout the week, eighteen adult leaders led the kid crews. In addition, two spiritual leaders, Deacon Derick Cranston and Father Bill Rausch, assisted in guiding the group.

Rocky Railway was the theme of this year’s program, with the message that Jesus’ power pulls us through. The program allowed children to learn about the Bible through touch, hearing, tasting, and learning activities. Crafts, team-building games, songs, and tasty treats were among the activities. On the final day of the program, all of the children took part in the traditional water fight, which included water balloons and water guns. Even Father Bill Rausch joined the fun, which Angie Goodwin, a member of the Leadership Crew, praised, saying that the kids “get to experience him in a whole different manner, which is an incredible thing to witness.”

Furthermore, the program helps the kids do a service project every year. This year’s service project centered on stewardship, with the kids filling the pews for a children’s Mass that had the participating children singing, bringing up the gifts, being at the altar, and more.

At this time, no date has been set for next year’s Vacation Bible School; however, the Leadership Crew plans to meet in the coming weeks to finalize all arrangements.
