Louisa County Conservation has scheduled a Nest Raiders-Youth Trapping Event for youth 12 years-old and up. The event is Sunday October 9th, from 1-5 p.m. and  is sponsored by the Louisa County Pheasants  and Quail Forever, Iowa Trappers Association, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, and Louisa County Conservation.

The trapping event is limited to 30 youth particpants. Those who attend,  will learn about predator identification, water trapping, land trapping, and how trapping helps the ecosystem by protecting nesting birds.

Executive Director for Louisa County Conservation Katie Hammond shares what attendees can expect, “There’ll be a variety of different types of traps that they get to learn how to set; so the dog proof traps, small fast hole traps, small carnivores cage traps, so were using the easiest stuff the least amount of worry that you would get hurt when you are setting it or anything like that and they’re things that kids might use if they were actually going to go out and do some trapping on their own.”

The learning all takes place at Langwood Education Center 14019 H Avenue, 3 miles southeast of Grandview. To register for this free event click here.
