For the last month and a half, the Washington City Council has used public comment and their own judgments to implement a series of new parking and street regulation changes, the first of which just underwent its third and final reading at the August 16th meeting. The first wave of changes pertains to parking violations and impounding vehicles, with a complete list of future no-parking zones set for its third and final reading at the next City Council meeting on September 6th.

Washington Mayor Jaron Rosien spoke with KCII Radio about the overall goal of these remaining changes. “The changes that are being passed are changes that solve small problems and ideally don’t create other ones. These changes help with blind intersections and some areas of congestion that aren’t incredibly impactful to the people that live there.”

Mayor Rosien noted that there are more contentious changes that have been pushed aside due to public concern and that those changes have been shelved for now. A complete list of the new parking and street regulations can be found in the August 16th Council Packet online on the City of Washington’s Website.
