Fresh off of their first victory of the season, the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk volleyball team has it’s sights set Saturday on tournament play at Central Lee. The Hawks are ranked No. 14 in Class 3A according to the first poll of the season from the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union and are 1-0 after a sweep of Washington at the Demon Den Thursday. Mid-Prairie was led in the win by 16 Jovi Evans assists, Dakota Mitchell’s 16 digs, four Ella Gronewold blocks and three kills from Landry Pacha. Seven other teams join Mid-Prairie today including Burlington, Centerville, Durant, Keokuk, Pekin, West Burlington and the home Hawks.
West Burlington comes in 1-0 on the year and ranked No. 4 in Class 2A. Burlington is 1-2 this season. Centerville, Central Lee, Keokuk and Pekin are all in search of their first wins and this is the first action of the year for Durant. Play begins at 9a.m. And continues throughout Saturday at Central Lee High School.
