Things were tight through three quarters at the Snake Pit in Sigourney Friday, but the visiting Durant Wildcats made their move late and pulled away for a 38-14 victory. The Snakes struck first, finding the end zone in the opening frame to hold a 6-0 lead after the first 12 minutes. Durant would answer with a touchdown in the second to tie the game at six going to the halftime break. Out of the locker room another Durant touchdown made it 12-6 Wildcats headed to the fourth. In the final period, Durant outscored the Cobras 26-8 to take the win.

The Wildcats outgained the Cobras 474 to 219 in total yards including 431 to 208 on the ground. SK had three giveaways in the contest, while recording two takeaways of their own. All-State running back Nolan DeLong led the Durant attack with an eye-popping 345 yards and four touchdowns on 22 carries. Cole Clarahan led the Cobras with 122 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries. Cole Kindred added a touchdown for SK. Evan Vittetoe was a monster for the Cobra defense, posting a team high six and a half tackles. two for loss and recovering a pair of fumbles.

With the loss, Sigourney-Keota falls to 0-1 on the year and will next be in action Friday when they travel to Dwight G. Sattler Field in Wellman to take on the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks.
