July saw the unemployment rate rise slightly across the board for the entirety of the KCII listening area.
The unemployment rate rose from to 2.3-2.4% in Washington County, 2.7-3.0% in Henry County, 2.2-2.4% in Iowa County, 2.5-2.6% in Jefferson County, 2.3-2.4% in Johnson County, 2.8-3.0% in Keokuk County, 2.8-2.9% in Louisa County. In July, unemployment decreased on a state level from 2.6-2.5% and decreased slightly from 3.6-3.5% across the United States.
All of Iowa’s 99 counties had lower unemployment than in July of last year, and the total number of working Iowans increased to 1,667,200 in July, an increase of approximately 2,000 workers.
