VFW Post & Auxiliary #6414 in Riverside announced the kick-off of their annual scholarships and contests for kindergarten through high school students. Those who participate compete for thousands of dollars in scholarships and prize earnings.

Opportunities for high schoolers include; Voice of Democracy, a unique way for students to express themselves in a patriotic-themed recorded essay, Young American Patriotic Art Contest, an original two-dimensional piece of artwork completed during the current school year, and a 3-Dimensional Patriotic Art Contest, which must be completed in the current school year.

For grade schoolers there is the Patriot’s Pen youth essay contest for grades 6-8th. The Illustrating America contest is for students K-8 that encourages students’ artistic abilities and the Elementary Essay contest for grades 3-5.
