The Iowa Track and Field Coaches Association has released it’s poll for the second week of the cross country season and a pair of schools in the KCII listening area continue to rise through the ranks of their respective classes. In Class 3A, the Washington Demon boys made a jump from No. 20 to No. 13 this week on the heels of their runner-up team finish at Anamosa Saturday. Washington has one ranked runner in their lineup with Micah Rees standing at No. 15 in 3A after a third place finish at the same event. The Washington girls also moved up in week two, from No. 20 to No. 15 after a runner-up team finish of their own at Anamosa.
The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls climbed one spot from No. 3 to No. 2 in this week’s class 2A poll after taking third in a field of Class 4A teams at Iowa City West last week. The Hawks have three ranked runners in their lineup with Danielle Hostetler remaining No. 1 in 2A after a runner-up finish at West. Others include Abby Fleming No. 15 in 2A after a seventh place finish and Phoebe Shetler No. 20 in 2A after a 21st place race. The Mid-Prairie boys jumped from No. 11 to No. 8 in this week’s 2A poll after a fourth place team finish at Iowa City West. The Hawks have one ranked runner in their lineup with Emmett Swartzentruber No. 18 in Class 2A. He was 10th at West.
Washington will next be in action at the Iowa City Regina meet Thursday while the Golden Hawks travel to Pella Saturday.
