It was another large meet early in the season for the Washington cross country teams on Thursday when they ran at the Iowa City Kickers Complex with 11 other schools making the trek.

The No. 15 Demon girls placed sixth as a team with 137 points while No. 1 Solon took the top spot with 64. Freshman Iris Dahl was the headliner once again placing fifth out of 86 runners clocking in at 21:11. Quincy Griffis cracked the top 20 in 17th (22:11), Alyvia Anderson was 38th (23:03), Abigail Kleese 42nd (23:32), and Lauren Horak rounded out the scored results in 44th (23:45). Kendall Hinrichsen finished 45th (23:51) and Isabella Lujan registered 51st (24:15). 

The Demon boys were ranked 13th coming in and placed eighth with 152 points while Marion won with 50. Out of 108 runners, Micah Rees was among the elite placing third in 17:00. Freshman Andrew Rees nabbed a 30th place showing in 18:53, Tyler Alderton was 32nd (18:54), Drew Horak was 41st (19:10), Lane Schrock 46th (19:23), Elijah Morris was 59th (19:51), and Kael Malichky was 102nd (23:37). 

Washington will get back on the course Thursday in Fairfield.
