The Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call yesterday in Keota that a belligerent individual had run over a man with his ATV. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office arrested thirty-seven-year-old Justin Wayne Milam of West Chester for fifth-degree criminal mischief and reckless driving causing serious injury, a Class D felony.

According to reports, Milam showed up at the home of a Keota resident whom he had a disagreement with and proceeded to start doing doughnuts in the front yard. The homeowner approached Milam to try and stop him from damaging his yard when Milam whipped the ATV around and struck the homeowner. Milam then ran over the victim before driving off, with the homeowner suffering lacerations on his back and severe rib pain after being run over.

When approached by authorities, Milam admitted to driving the ATV and striking the homeowner with the ATV in an attempt to leave the scene. According to Iowa law, a person commits a Class D felony when an individual unintentionally causes a serious injury while driving in either an intoxicated or dangerous manner.

Milam was arrested and taken to the Washington County Jail; KCII will bring you more information as it becomes official.
