The start of Southeast Iowa Super Conference play went as planned for the Highland volleyball team on Thursday when the Huskies welcomed Pekin to Riverside and the clash resulted in a sweep.
The Huskies squeaked out an exciting 25-23 set one win, a 25-18 victory in the second, and 25-14 in the third to close out the night. The offense was a balanced attack with Sarah Burton collecting eight kills, Adeline Krotz had seven, and Adelynn Kleopfer managed six. MyLei Smith set much of it up with 16 assists, Madison Beeson had 14 digs, and the team served at an 86% clip with eight aces.
Highland improves to 3-2 overall and 1-0 in the league. They travel to Wapello on Tuesday.
