It was a rare Friday cross country meet for Columbus Community last week when they made a trip to Seminole Valley Park in Cedar Rapids for a competition hosted by Mount Mercy University.

The Wildcat girls placed third out of four teams with 81 points while Cedar Rapids Xavier won with 25. Ariana Vergara cracked the top 15 out of 54 runners by placing 15th in 25:34. Neveiah Garza was 18th (26:25), Averi Sipes 19th (26:43), Kimberly Gonzalez 30th (29:29), and Isabel Rendon was 39th (32:08).

The boys finished sixth out of seven with 133 points while Iowa City Liberty posted a perfect score of 15. Damian Vergara had the top Wildcat finish in 11th (19:34) and Tim Hills-Carrier was 13th (19:46). Bryan Tlatenchi was 38th (21:23), Oscar Alcala was 49th (22:48), and Alex Rees recorded 67th (25:20). 

The Wildcats get back on the course today in Sigourney.
