Four area teams took the court for tournament action Saturday in North English. The Winfield-Mt. Union Lady Wolves swept the competition on their way to the title, putting together a 4-0 day with wins over East Marshall 21-9 and 21-12, Cardinal 21-13 and 21-4, English Valleys 21-6 and 21-5, then topped WACO in the title match 26-24 and 25-20. On the day, WMU was led by Keely Malone with 56 assists, Keetyn Townsley’s 33 digs and 25 kills from Melina Oepping.

With their runner-up finish, WACO went 3-1 on the day. Before falling to the Wolves in the title match they beat Hillcrest 21-15 and 21-6, Sigourney 21-7 and 21-15, and Tri-County 21-11 and 21-16. For the day, the Warriors were led by Grace Coble’s 43 assists, 42 digs from Jocelyn Fulton and 14 kills from Emma Wagler.

Sigourney split their two recorded matches on the day, beating East Marshall in three, 21-10, 12-21 and 15-10 before falling to WACO 21-7 and 21-15. Hillcrest Academy was 0-3 on the day, falling to Cardinal 21-16 and 21-8 and recording losses to WACO and Tri-County.
