Four teams from the KCII listening area are among those recognized this week by the Iowa Associated Press for their work on the football field so far in 2022.

The WACO Warriors are ranked No. 3 in 8-man football for the second straight week. The Warriors are 3-0 on the season after victories over Southeast Warren, Springville and HLV by a combined 159-56 score. The Warriors are on the road at 0-2 English Valleys this week.

In Class 3A, the Washington Demons are receiving votes in this week’s poll. Washington is 2-0 to start the season after scoring wins over Burlington and Mount Pleasant by a total of 75-34. The Demons host Clear Creek Amana this week. The Clippers are 1-1 and receiving votes in the AP’s Class 4A poll. In Class 2A, the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks are receiving votes in this week’s poll. The Hawks are 2-0 with victories over West Burlington Notre Dame and Sigourney-Keota by a total margin of 51-38. This week Mid-Prairie is on the road at rival Iowa City Regina who is receiving votes in the Class 1A poll with a 1-1 record. In Class A, the Columbus Wildcats are receiving votes in this week’s poll. The Wildcats are 2-0 with wins over Louisa-Muscatine and Highland by a total of 109-14. The Wildcats host Louisa County rival Wapello this Friday.
