The week three cross country rankings have been released by the Iowa Track and Field Coaches Association with the Washington Demons and Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks still listed among the best in the state.

In Class 3A, the Demon boys are ranked No. 16, down three spots from their 13th position a week ago. Individually, Micah Rees is No. 12 in the poll, up three spots from last week. The Washington girls are No. 16 in Class 3A, down one spot from last week with Iris Dahl checking into the individual rankings for the first time this year, at No. 15 in Class 3A. The Washington boys and girls last ran at Iowa City Regina where the girls were sixth led by a fifth place finish from Dahl and the boys were eighth with Rees taking third overall. Washington will next run tonight at Fairfield.

The Mid-Prairie girls are No. 2 in this week’s Class 2A rankings. The second straight week they have held that spot. The Hawks have two ranked runners in their lineup with Danielle Hostetler atop the poll again this week and Abby Fleming at No. 12, up three spots from a week ago. For the Golden Hawk boys they are again No. 8 this week in Class 2A. They have one ranked runner in their lineup with Emmett Swartzentruber No. 17, up one spot from a week ago. The Golden Hawk boys and girls won the team championships at Pella last Saturday led by an individual title from Hostetler in the girls event and a runner-up in the boys race from Swartzentruber. The Hawks will again be on the course Saturday at Monticello.
