Despite not having enough for a team score, the Sigourney cross country runners have made some noise to start 2022 and that continued on Thursday when they crowned an individual champion at the Davis County Invitational.

Freshman Troy Klett left the competition in the dust in the boys’ race by capturing gold in 19:37, seven seconds faster than the second place participant. This was the first champion finish for Klett and his teammate Dawson Meyer nabbed 18th out of 37 in 24:37. Ellie Yates coupled Tuesday’s silver place showing at their home meet with a fourth place finish on Thursday. The freshman girl clocked in at 23:18. Reanah Utterback recorded eighth place out of 25 (24:08) and Addison Yates was 16th (26:45).

The Savages and Morris will get back at it Tuesday at the English Valleys meet.
