The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls cross country teams are on the course Saturday at Monticello High School. Both teams were small school division champions at Central College in Pella last Saturday. The No. 2 in Class 2A Golden Hawk girls come into the event with two ranked runners in their lineup, Danielle Hostetler at No. 1 and Abby Fleming No. 12. The Mid-Prairie boys are rated No. 8 in Class 2A with Emmett Swartzentruber the lone ranked runner in their lineup at No. 17 in 2A. These ratings are according to this week’s poll from the Iowa Association of Track Coaches.

Joining the Golden Hawks today are the No. 11 in 2A Anamosa boys and their girls, Davenport Assumption, the No. 5 in Class 2A Dyersville-Beckman girls and their boys, the No. 5 in Class 1A Bellevue boys and their girls, Calamus-Wheatland, Camanche, the No. 9 in Class 1A Cascade boys and their girls, Easton Valley, the No. 15 in Class 2A Jesup girls and their boys, the No. 13 in Class 1A Maquoketa Valley boys and their girls, the No. 18 in Class 1A North Linn boys and their No. 7 ranked girls, Springville, the defending 2A state champion and No. 1 ranked Tipton boys and their No. 7 ranked girls, the No. 4 in Class 3A Western Dubuque boys and their girls and the No. 9 in Class 2A boys and No. 3 in Class 2A girls Monticello Panthers. There are 22 ranked runners competing today including 12 in the girls field and 10 in the boys. Action continues all day Saturday at Monticello High School.
