Washington County Supervisors Jack Seward, Richard Young, and Marcus Fedler were honored as Certified Iowa County Supervisors. The Iowa State Association of County Supervisors (ISACS) honored their first class of Certified Iowa County Supervisors during a ceremony in Des Moines on August 25th that was held in conjunction with the Iowa State Association of Counties (ISAC) Annual Conference.

The Certified Iowa County Supervisor program was created to help create a leadership culture among county supervisors by using development through a well-rounded education program. This certification requires a two-year commitment and a total of 30 total credit hours.

Richard Young was elected to the Washington County Board of Supervisors in 2014, took office in 2015, and is running for reelection. Young has been the Chairman of the Board of Supervisors since 2021. Jack Seward was elected in 2012, took office in 2013, and has two years left on his 3rd term. Marcus Fedler was elected and took office in 2020 during a special election and has three months left on his 1st term and is seeking reelection this fall for his 2nd term.
