The City of Kalona held their Council Meeting  Wednesday evening. Several issues of a clerical nature were on the agenda.

These included; Setting of Public Hearing for October 19th at 7:00 p.m. for amending R-3 (multi-family) side and rear setbacks, Resolutions waiving the right to review Auditor Parcels, Consideration of Nutmeg Cemetery Deed and Consideration of Iowa Alcoholic Beverage Division Licenses for Renewals.

City of Kalona City Administrator Ryan Schlabaugh shares, “Prior to this meeting, we did have a work session with Council and we discussed the golf cart atv/utv ordinance and got some direction from Council. At our next meeting we will set a public hearing for the first meeting in October to discuss the proposed changes that will go into our new ordinance with the State House File 23:10 allowing for utv’s and atv’s on county roads with them being registered. It still gives us some rights within the city corporate limits to address those vehicles on city streets so we had some discussion on that and we’ll look forward to putting those to the public here in the near future.”

Schlabaugh shared another topic that was discussed and agreed upon is Trick or Treat night in Kalona will be recognized on Monday, October 31st.
