huisenga-pick

Being overwhelmed has been a common theme for WACO’s opponents this year and Friday was nothing different with the English Valleys (0-3) football team being their latest victim in a 49-0 Warrior victory.

Getting started on the right foot (literally) is exactly what WACO did when they relied on the right foot of Simeon Reichenbach to boot a 41 yard field goal in the first quarter. That started an onslaught of Warrior scores with a pair of first half touchdowns from Reichenbach, one from Oleh Shtefanchuk, and one from Louden Huisenga to build a 29-0 halftime lead. The Oswald’s put the finishing touches in the second half with Isaac having a pair of house calls and Reece having one touchdown in the shutout win. WACO put up 331 yards of total offense compared to the Bears’ 163. Isaac Oswald was eight of 12 passing for 139 yards and two touchdowns. Shtefanchuk caught three passes for 51 yards and the one score from 23 yards out. Reichenbach had 10 touches for 99 yards with a receiving and rushing touchdown. Colton Leichty and Louden Huisenga had eight tackles to lead a defense that had four takeaways.

Head Coach Chad Edeker tells KCII Sports the team got better as the night went on. “All in all we started slow in the first quarter. Offensively we stayed with it and made adjustments. There were two or three drives in the second half where we moved the ball at will and started to take over. It was a good night.”

The Warriors are now 4-0 and have won each game by an average of 38 points. They will be tested on Friday when they travel to face Iowa Valley (3-1).
