The Washington Public Library will be hosting Tinker Lab on Friday at 1:30 pm and will be open to all students grades K-12. This program provides hands-on activities for participants, including experiments, art, and ideas to tinker with. The program is designed with STEAM learning in mind and will offer activities focusing on all five STEAM areas: science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics.
Washington Public Library Director Carry Ann Siegfried spoke with KCII about the Tinker Lab and provided more background information about Friday’s activity. “Tinker Lab is based on STEAM activities, so there is usually a set activity for the day that they’ll be working on. It could be constructing something, doing some sort of experiment, or doing an art project. It could be any of the STEAM subjects we are doing at any point in time.”
There will also be a classic cinema showcase this Friday at 6:00 pm at the Library as the 1950 American comedy-drama Harvey will be shown, followed by a discussion about the film. Registration is suggested for the event but not required, and a link for registration can be found at the bottom of the article.
