On Sunday, September 11th Riverside hosted its Shop the Park and Community Visioning event.

The Shop the Park event has been going on for a few years, where local vendors come to Riverside to set up shop. There people can enjoy the items vendors offer, while also enjoying live music and food.

Along with that event, the project committee for the community vision program set up a table to help shed light on the projects that the committee is undertaking. They had sent fliers within the city’s water bills prior to the event, but felt this was a better way to reach out to the community.

They had comment cards at the table that members of the community could fill out with information about all of the projects in an attempt to get feedback, and if they would be open to helping with that project. Everyone of all ages took part, which helped both sides emphasize what they believe is best for Riverside in the future. The committee felt it accomplished its goal of not only gaining visibility for the projects they have in place, but also receiving input from the entire community.

More committee meetings are planned for October, and they intend to use the input and data from this event, as well as previous input, to formulate plans for the rest of this year and the beginning of 2023. They also intend to distribute more information and fliers in the near future.
