The City of Washington Maintenance & Construction Department will begin fire hydrant flushing on September 19th. The flushing process is anticipated to last two weeks. During the flushing process, residents may experience loss of water pressure, discoloration, and rust. Any questions may be directed to the Maintenance & Construction Department. Hydrant flushing helps ensure water quality and helps avoid random bouts of rusty water if there is a high demand for water caused by a major firefighting effort or water main break.
