On Wednesday at 10:15 p.m. the Henry County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on US Highway 34 near mile marker 229 in Mount Pleasant on a vehicle for a traffic violation.
It was discovered that 32-year-old Oscar Daniel Leyva Sandoval of Ottumwa currently held a suspended driving status through the State of Iowa. The vehicle was occupied by two other passengers; 27-year-old Jessica L. Jasso of Ottumwa and 24-year-old Deserae Ramirez of Ottumwa.
Upon further investigation by deputies, a search was conducted of the vehicle where amounts of Methamphetamine, Marijuana, and drug paraphernalia were located.
Ramirez was arrested for Possession of Controlled Substance, a 3rd or Subsequent Offense a Class D felony, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia a Serious Misdemeanor and Possession of Contraband in a Correctional Institution a Class D Felony.
Sandoval was issued a summons for Driving Under Suspension a Simple Misdemeanor, Possession of Drug paraphernalia a Serious Misdemeanor and was cited for Speeding Over 55 Zone, 16 through 20 over a non-scheduled violation.
Jasso was issued a summons for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia a Serious Misdemeanor.
