The Highland Huskies football team couldn’t avoid costly turnovers and couldn’t win their first game of the season, falling 36-19 at North Cedar Friday. Sophomore quarterback Sage Hartley-Norman was intercepted three times, limiting Highland to fewer possessions on a night when they only gained 271 yards. Hartley-Norman threw for 185 yards and ran for another 37 and a touchdown.

Fellow Huskies sophomore Ayden Havel hauled in five receptions for 89 yards. Senior running back Peyton Yeggy only carried the ball five times for 14 yards but found the end zone twice. Highland’s biggest struggle was containing North Cedar running back Teagan Weber. The Knights freshman piled up 243 rushing yards and three TDs on 31 attempts.

While North Cedar is off the schneid, Highland is 0-4. The Huskies will celebrate homecoming this Friday evening at 7 by welcoming in Alburnett.
