The Washington County Sheriff’s Office received a notification from the Iowa City Police Department that they had a man wanted out of Washington County in custody. Fifty-year-old Trevor James Gast was arrested on a Washington County warrant after his pre-trial release was revoked after he missed his pretrial release meeting.

Gast was arrested in July in Washington County and charged with third-degree burglary after he unlocked a side door to a residential garage attached to a Riverside condo and entered the garage looking for items to steal. Gast was also charged with an additional third and fourth-degree burglary and trespassing first offense charges in August.

Gast was arrested in Iowa City after officers observed him entering cars that weren’t his. When confronted by officers, Gast admitted that he entered two unlocked cars and was looking for items to steal. Gast was charged with two counts of burglary, third-degree relating to a motor vehicle, second or subsequent offense, a Class D Felony.

Gast has been issued a $15,000 cash-only bond, and a detainer has been placed with the Johnson County Jail. KCII will bring you more information as it becomes official.
