Homecoming festivities continue this week for the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks. Tonight, Mid-Prairie welcomes alumni and the community to campus for their annual Homecoming Tailgater. The fun starts at 5p.m. and continues into the evening with powderpuff football and kickball competitions for high school students before concluding with their coronation of the 2022 Homecoming King and Queen. This year’s court includes queen candidates Ella Groenewold, Amara Jones, Alivia Poock and Kylie Reinier with king candidates Cain Brown, Braden Hartley, Drake Mann and Kaden Meader. You can hear the coronation announcement live tonight on AM and FM KCII at around 7:30p.m. Students in the district have also participated in activities throughout the week including themed dress-up days. The Golden Hawk cross country teams competed in the Clear Creek Amana Classic Monday in Iowa City, while the Mid-Prairie volleyball team will host Tipton for Senior Night Thursday.
The Homecoming football game is scheduled for Friday night when the No. 9 in Class 2A Golden Hawks host the undefeated and No. 1 ranked Williamsburg Raiders at Dwight G. Sattler Field.
