The WACO Warriors volleyball team kept rolling with a straight-sets win at Wapello last night. But all three sets were a battle. WACO took the first 25-16, but the Warriors had to hold on to defeat Wapello 25-20 and 25-18 from there. Senior outside hitter Ellah Kissel had a strong night with nine kills, three aces, seven digs and a block. Junior middle hitter Emma Wagler tied for the team-high with nine kills and added two blocks. Senior Katie Leichty did a little bit of everything well, finishing with six kills, three aces, two blocks and 11 digs. Senior setter Grace Coble was also extremely active, handing out 30 assists and adding four kills, an ace, 10 digs and a block.

WACO wins its third straight and improves to 19-3. It’s also the Warriors’ seventh win in the last eight meetings with Wapello. Next up for WACO is one of their biggest matches of the season, as they host Winfield-Mount Union Tuesday night with first place in the Super Conference North and the inside track to a conference championship on the line.
