Three area  boys and girls cross country teams find themselves in the team and individual rankings this week issued by the Iowa Association of Track Coaches. The Washington Demon boys are No. 13 in Class 3A this week after being 12th a week ago. Washington has one ranked runner in their lineup with Micah Rees climbing to eighth from 10th a week ago in the individual standings. The Demon girls are ranked No. 12 in Class 3A after being 11 last week. Iris Dahl climbed in the individual poll, checking in at No. 12 this week, up three spots in the last seven days. Washington ran at Hillcrest Academy Monday where the Demon boys and girls both finished as team runners-up with Rees and Dahl both taking individual runner-up honors. Washington is next on the course Saturday at North Linn.

The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks also continued their run in the Class 2A poll this week. The Golden Hawk girls stayed put at No. 2 in the team standings. Individually, they have three ranked runners in their lineup with Danielle Hostetler remaining in the top spot in the state. Abby Fleming moved up a spot this week to No. 11 and Phoebe Shetler entered the poll at No. 22. The Golden Hawk boys rose from 12th to 11th in Class 2A this week. The Hawks have one ranked runner in their lineup as Emmett Swartzentruber remained No. 11 in 2A. Mid-Prairie last ran at Wartburg Saturday where the girls were 11th of 22 teams led by Hostetler’s fifth place finish. The boys were 20th of 24 squads with Swartzentruber the leader in 73rd. The Hawks run next on Tuesday in Iowa City at the River Valley Conference meet.

The Columbus Wildcat boys make their first appearance of the season in the Class 1A team rankings at No. 19. The Wildcats last ran at Wartburg Saturday where they placed 13th of 27 teams led by Damian Vergara in 35th. The Wildcats are next on the course tonight in Winfield for the Southeast Iowa Superconference meet.
