The Sigourney Savages continued what’s been an excellent volleyball season with a pair of victories earlier this week. Sigourney won in straight sets Monday, defeating Lynnville-Sully 25-8, 25-11 and 25-16. The Savages stayed in a groove with a sweep of Colfax-Mingo Tuesday night, winning 25-13, 25-15 and 25-6 at home.
Sophomore outside hitter Josephine Moore continued to shine on both offense and defense, finishing with 17 kills, four aces and 30 digs across both matches. Junior hitter Amiya Smallwood had a team-high 18 kills total and picked up three blocks, all in the victory against Lynnville-Sully. Senior Macy Fisch had 15 kills, four aces, 11 digs and a block in the two wins, while fellow senior Zoe Webb added seven kills, two aces, two blocks and 11 digs. Sophomore middle Reagan Clarahan also chipped in 11 kills, six digs and a block. Senior setter Brookelyn Hemsley made the whole engine go with 57 assists, three aces and 12 digs.
Sigourney has now won four straight and seven of its last eight matches to improve to 17-5. The Savages will next be in action Saturday at the Washington Tournament.
