Columbus Community is continuing their march towards a perfect season into North Cedar tonight. The now-sixth-ranked-in-A-football Wildcats are 6-0 and have not won by less than 20 points. Junior running back Kaden Amigon kept up his all-state pace last week by running for 270 yards and five touchdowns on only eight carries, bringing his total to over 1,200 yards and 18 TDs. Senior Triston Miller has also been an impact player with the ball in his hands, rushing for 679 yards and nine scores. And sophomore Riley Kaalberg has piled up 213 yards and six touchdowns on the ground on just nine carries.
Kaalberg also leads a Columbus defense that gives up less than 16 points per game with 46 tackles. Junior defensive lineman Russell Coil is also wrecking havoc on the opposition with 33 tackles, nine tackles for loss and two sacks. The Wildcats will be zeroing in North Cedar quarterback Teagan Weber. The freshman leads the Knights in passing and has rushed for a team-high 228 yards. Junior Peyton Clark is second on the team in rushing and first in receiving, while junior Nate Wood leads the defense with 53 tackles.
Columbus Community won last year’s meeting 35-16. The Wildcats will look to stay undefeated starting this evening at 7.
