Capturing their first district win is the objective tonight for the Washington Demon football team when they face Keokuk in their final road trip of the season.
Both teams come in with 2-4 overall records and 0-2 in class 3A district 5 with the Demons looking to erase a 44-0 loss last week to Solon and Keokuk trying to bounce back from a 12-6 defeat to Grinnell. The Chiefs have been solid defensively surrounding just 14 points a game with 13 takeaways and Liam O’Donnell leads the way compiling 55 tackles. The black and orange will have to be at their best after averaging 18 points in their first six outings. Ethan Patterson has thrown for 385 yards and 285 on the ground with five total touchdowns. Tayven Stuart has ran for 497 yards and eight scores. The Demons have won six in a row in the series including 13 out of the last 15 and a 45-6 triumph last year.
The week seven showdown begins at 7 p.m. tonight and tune in on FM 106.1 KCII starting at 6 p.m. for the Football Friday Preview Show and we will take over at 7 p.m. from Keokuk. The Chiefs are hosting Military Appreciation Night with a ceremony for all active duty military personnel and veterans from both Washington and Keokuk will be held prior to the game at 6:30 p.m. at the Wright Fieldhouse. Food and beverages will be provided for those that participate. Washington friends and family of military members are invited to sit on the Keokuk side of the field before the game to watch the ceremony.
