The party started early, continued through the game’s final whistle and long into the night in Sigourney Friday for the SK Cobras as they wrapped up the Class 1A District 6 championship with a 53-6 win over Central Decatur at the Snake Pit on Homecoming. Both teams entered play unbeaten in district, setting up a de-facto title game. The Snakes found the end zone twice in the first period and tacked on 25 more in the second to take a commanding 39-0 lead to the locker room. The Cobras added another touchdown in each of the last two quarters.

The SK offense put on a show with 375 total yards including 328 on the ground. Cole Clarahan had 22 touches for 178 yards and four scores, the longest 30 yards. Cole Kindred and Reid Molyneux each had touchdown runs of 27 and 15 yards respectively. Sawyer Stout was a perfect three of three through the air for 47 yards and two more touchdowns, a 28-yarder to Kindred and a four yarder to Clay Morse. Karson Weber had a team high six stops on defense, and Jake Moore and Conner Strand each picked off a pass. This is SK’s third straight district title. They are now 5-2 overall and close out the regular season next week at Van Buren.
