lone-tree-3

The Lone Tree Lion football team couldn’t tame the Tigers of New London and suffered a 52-21 loss on the road Friday night. A 26-point second quarter allowed New London to go into halftime up 38-7, and they would never look back.

Lone Tree could not contain the explosive New London offense, which piled up 446 total yards. Seniors Boden Pickle and Blaise Porter both had two touchdown runs each and combined for 20 carries for 210 yards. Senior quarterback Dom Lopez ran for two TDs and threw two TD passes as well. Senior Joe Boxwell and junior Ethan Bockelman had double-digit tackles, but it wasn’t enough for the Lions to ever slow down New London.

On offense, Lone Tree struggled in the second and third quarters, right when they couldn’t afford to. Bockelman ran for 42 yards on 13 attempts and only completed one pass through the first three quarters. Sophomore Maddox Jondle had nine carries for 41 yards, but the Lions still gained only 138 yards in total.

Lone Tree falls to 3-4 after losing their third straight. The Lions conclude their season by hosting Iowa Valley this coming Friday evening.
