At approximately 4:28 p.m. on Friday, October 7, Louisa County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a fire behind 114 S Main St. in Grandview.
While there were no casualties reported, the post office, local bar, apartment complex and city shed were destroyed in the fire. The fire watch was terminated on Saturday, October 8 at 1:22 p.m. The cause of the fire is still unknown, and is being investigated by the Iowa Fire Marshal.
Grandview Community Bible Church and The Red Cross are currently raising money and supplies for those affected by the fire. More information on donations can be found at https://gcbchurch.com/give.
Assisting Louisa County Sheriff’s Office on the call were Alliant Energy, Columbus Junction Fire Department, Columbus Junction Police Department, Conesville Fire Department, Fruitland Fire Department, Grandview Fire Department, Iowa State Patrol, Letts Fire Department, Louisa County Ambulance, Louisa County Emergency Management, Morning Sun Fire Department, Nichols Fire Department, Oakville Fire Department, State Fire Marshal, The Red Cross,Wapello Fire Department, and the Wapello Ambulance Service. Several bystanders also assisted during this fire.
