lone-tree-3

The Lone Tree Lions will try to finish the football season on a high note when they host Iowa Valley tomorrow night. 3-4 Lone Tree needs a win and a lot of help to sneak into the playoffs, so the chief concern for the Lions is snapping a three-game losing streak. Junior quarterback Ethan Bockelman will hope for some help, as he has accounted for all but eight touchdowns that the offense has scored. But Lone Tree has only scored 52 points over the last three games combined, even as Bockelman has passed for almost 700 yards, rushed for over 700 and accounted for 19 TDs.

On defense, Bockelman and seniors Joe Boxwell and Andrew Hotz lead the team in tackles. They’ll need to be at their best to slow down one of the most electrifying players in the state in Iowa Valley quarterback Evan Kearney. The senior has dazzled with over 1,300 yards and 22 touchdowns through the air and over 1,400 yards and 24 TDs on the ground. His favorite target is senior receiver Clayton Kinzenbaw, with 27 catches for 343 yards and seven scores, helping the Tigers reach 5-3 by scoring a whopping 52 points per game. Lone Tree hopes it has enough to keep up with Iowa Valley and wins its home finale starting tomorrow evening at 7.
