The Washington County Sheriff’s Office received a notification from dispatch at 1:52 pm Tuesday notifying them of a multiple vehicle, T-bone accident with unknown injuries and roadway blocked at the intersection of Hwy. 1 and Hwy. 92 (North Junction) in rural Washington County.
Upon arrival at the scene, it was determined that the driver of the first vehicle failed to stop at the stop sign while traveling eastbound on Hwy. 92, causing a T-Bone crash with the second vehicle when the two collided at the intersection. As a result of the collision, the first vehicle was then pushed into the third vehicle, a dump truck hauling cargo which was stationary at the time at the westbound stop sign.
The driver of the first vehicle was transported to the University of Iowa Emergency Room via the Washington County Ambulance, the driver of the second vehicle was transported to an unknown medical facility via private vehicle, and the driver of the third vehicle was uninjured. The driver of the first vehicle was issued a citation for failure to obey a stop sign causing personal injury, and a driver’s license re-evaluation has been requested.
Assisting the Washington County Sheriff’s Office were the Washington Police Department, Washington County Rescue, Washington County Ambulance Service, Washington Fire Department, Washington QRS, Iowa Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Enforcement, and Bulltown Towing.
