The last date on the regular season calendar has arrived for the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk volleyball team with Saturday’s trip to Knoxville for tournament play. Mid-Prairie is 21-10 on the season after a runner-up finish Thursday at the River Valley Conference championship tournament in Wilton. The Hawks scored sweeps of Durant and West Branch before falling to No. 6 in Class 3A West Liberty. Mid-Prairie is currently ranked No. 11 in Class 3A in the most recent poll issued by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. On the year, Mid-Prairie is ninth in Class 3A with 1,271 digs. Individual leaders include sophomore libero Dakota Mitchell with 464 digs, second in the state. Senior Landry Pacha has a team best 286 assists and 187 kills, seventh and sixth in the River Valley Conference respectively. Pacha’s 94.4% mark from the service line is also best on the team and sixth in the league with a team best 32 aces, seventh in conference. Senior Ella Groenewold has a team best 60 blocks, second in the RVC.

The Golden Hawks are joined at today’s tournament by No. 12 in Class 4A ADM, Albia, No. 10 in Class 1A Holy Trinity Catholic, Pella Christian, Southeast Warren, No. 5 in Class 3A Union La Porte City and the home No. 13 in Class 4A Panthers. Action continues all day Saturday at Knoxville High School.
