On Tuesday, October 11, 8th and 9th grade Mid-Prairie students attended Singfest at Central College in Pella. Six choir members showcased their talents, while also enhancing their craft.
Upon arrival at the college, the students spent most of their day rehearsing for their evening performance. Throughout rehearsals, they had the chance to speak with members of the Central College Choir and were treated to a short recital. Having college students in attendance helped expose Mid-Prairie singers to a variety of music styles and techniques.
Mid-Prairie’s Choir program has been staying busy this fall, attending Conference Honor Choir in early October. Vocal Director, Collette McClellen, is always on the lookout for experiences like these to enrich her students.“It was just a really fun opportunity for all those students to get out with different kids, meet them, and sing with them, and perform.” McClellen said. Central College will host a Singfest event for upperclassmen in February, and Mid-Prairie plans to attend.
