The WACO Warriors volleyball team began their postseason journey last night by knocking off Melcher-Dallas in straight sets in the first round of the Class 1A Region 8 tournament. WACO took the opening set 25-11 and was equally dominant the rest of the way, winning each of the final two sets by a score of 25-8.

The Warriors continued to flex their ability as a great serving team, finishing with 31 aces as a team. Senior outside hitter Ellah Kissell had seven of them to go with nine kills and 11 digs. Junior hitter Marie Farmer had a match-high 13 aces and added five kills. Junior middle hitter Emma Wagler finished with six kills and a block, while senior setter Grace Coble had three kills, 23 assists, two digs and a block to help her team wins its 10th of the last 13 matches.

WACO improves to 26-6 this season. The Warriors continue their playoff march by hosting North Mahaska in the 1A Region 8 quarterfinals tomorrow evening.
