The Highland Huskies wrapped up the high school football season on a sour note, falling 35-8 at Pekin Friday night. Highland’s only scoring of the night came on a 19-yard touchdown pass to sophomore Ayden Havel, but otherwise the Huskies were shut down on offense, gaining only 184 total yards.
Sophomore quarterback Sage Hartley-Norman ran for a team-high 66 yards on 11 carries but only completed two passes and was intercepted three times. On defense, sophomore Logan McFarland led the Huskies with six-and-a-half tackles, but Pekin still pounded away for 320 rushing yards as a team. Highland finishes the 2022 football season winless. The Huskies will graduate four seniors: Peyton Yeggy, Ethan Simpson, Tyler Thompson and Ethan Paisley
