On Saturday, October 15, at approximately 3:55 p.m. Louisa County Sheriff’s Office responded to a harassment call from a residence in Elrick Junction. A male caller was leaving voicemails threatening to kill and harm those inside.
Shorty after law enforcement arrived at the residence, the caller, 37-year-old Jacob Strause showed up to the location and attempted to kick in the door. Unsuccessful in his efforts, Strause then entered a nearby garage where further threats against law enforcement were made. Believing the suspect to be armed, deputies surrounded the garage and were able to remove Strause without incident at approximately 5:54 p.m.
Upon his arrest, Strause was taken into custody and multiple firearms were seized. He was charged with 1st Degree Harassment, with further charges pending. Strause is currently being held on a $2,000 bond at the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office.
Assisting the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office was the Columbus Junction Police Department, Wapello Fire and Rescue, the Wapello Ambulance Service, and bystanders near the event.
KCII will have more information as it becomes available.
