A trio of area high school volleyball teams saw their season come to an end Monday night in the first round of region tournaments. In Class 1A Region 8, the Keota Eagles fell in straight sets to Wapello. Despite five blocks from junior Emily Sheetz and a pair of kils each for senior Nicole Clarahan and sophomore Izzi Chalupa, the 12th-seeded Eagles lost 25-11, 25-15 and 25-11. Keota ends the season with a record of 4-19 and loses Clarahan and Chloe Pringle.

In 1A Region 7, the Lone Tree Lions were also swept by Central City. Number-13 seed Lone Tree lost 25-14, 25-13 and 25-16. The Lions end up 5-20 and will graduate four seniors: Hannah Zadow, Emma Slaughter, Riley Krueger and Lindsay Werbach.

Finally, in Class 2A Region 7, the Columbus Community Wildcats fell in straight sets at Cascade Monday evening, losing 25-11, 25-8 and 25-17. Columbus ends the year at 6-21 and will lose four seniors: Sara Vela, Victoria Howell, Isabella Lagunas and Miriam Ruvalcaba.
