Members of the Washington and Mid-Prairie Marching Bands have put in the work all season. Their efforts were rewarded at the Iowa High School Music Association State Marching Band Festival last Saturday in Pella, with both teams taking home a Division I Ranking.
For Washington, this is their second year in a row earning top honors in the 3A division, with this year’s selection titled “Spanish Dances”. The Demon Marching Band season concludes this week with an in-concert performance on Thursday, October 20 at 7 p.m. and the football game Friday, October 21. The concert will take place in the high school gym, where free-will donations will be accepted.
This is the second consecutive Division I ranking for Mid-Prairie as well, but their first in the 3A division. Moving up from 2A didn’t phase the Golden Hawks, as they performed the hits of Earth, Wind, & Fire. As their season winds down, the Mid-Prairie Marching Band also played in their Stadium Echoes Concert on Tuesday, October 18. Band & Choir All-State Auditions for both schools will be held this Saturday in Washington.
