It’s been a magical season for Columbus Community Wildcats football. 7 wins and being unbeaten until the regular-season finale is easily the best season the Wildcats have put together in over a decade. Now comes a chance to add to history in the making by starting the A playoffs against North Maquoketa tonight.

Columbus has piled up almost 400 rushing yards per game thanks to the terrific pairing of junior Kaden Amigon and senior Triston Miller. Amigon is two yards shy of 1,500 on the ground and has scored 22 touchdowns, while Miller has piled up 790 yards and 12 TDs. But the Wildcat defense has also been spectacular, allowing less than 16 points a game and has two shutouts. Sophomore Riley Kaalberg leads the way with 60-and-a-half tackles, eight tackles for loss and three sacks.

Columbus will be keyed in on stopping North Maquoketa running back Lane McShane. The junior has rushed for just under 1,200 yards and 18 touchdowns. Junior Aidan Salow has also been excellent on defense with 56.5 tackles and 18 tackles for loss to help the Wildcats reach 5-3. Columbus Community looks to keep their momentous season rolling by knocking off North Maquoketa at 7 this evening.
