Carl Montag, an Iowa-based folk singer, songwriter, and musician, will host a songwriters workshop at the Washington Public Library tomorrow at 10:00 am. This workshop will be open to all interested teen and adult community members, and a free follow-up concert will take place after the workshop at 2:00 pm. For the concert, Montag will perform the music of some of her inspirations, Joan Baez, Joni Mitchell, and Judy Collins, as well as some of her original music.

Washington Public Library Director Cary Ann Siegfried spoke with KCII about the upcoming workshop. “We have a very special writers workshop this month with Carol Montag, who is very popular and has done a lot of concerts in Southeast Iowa, and there are a lot of people that are excited that we have her for a free concert.”

Folk music artist Tom Paxton described Montag as “the best thing to come out of Iowa since Bonnie Koloc.” No pre-registration is required for the event; for more information about the workshop or a complete schedule of events, contact the Washington Public Library.
