The Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call from Riverside about a bicyclist struck by a vehicle around 9:53 pm on Thursday. The bicyclist was riding his bike in the eastbound lane of Highway 22 with no illuminating lights. The driver of the vehicle, while driving eastbound down Highway 22, did not see the bike or the rider, struck the bike, and immediately stopped his vehicle after doing so.

The bicyclist suffered trauma to his face and rear skull area and was transported to the University of Iowa Hospital Emergency Room by Air Care.
