At a previous meeting, the Washington Community School Board reviewed the renovation plans for Washington High School that SVPA Architects proposed. The changes include widening the circle drive in front of the school, adding a new two-story wing, a new gymnasium on the southeast corner, and adding and renovating many classrooms. The project is scheduled over two phases, with the timeline for the first phase set for Spring of 2023 through Spring of 2024, with the project going out to bid this November.
Washington Community Schools Superintendent Willie Stone talked with KCII about when action will be taken after the bids come in. “It goes out to bid next month, and I believe that it comes back in December, with the closing date being December 7th. So, when that comes in, we’ll have that information available for our December board meeting. It’s an exciting time to be a Demon, especially with the building things we have going on and the other great things we have going on.”
The next meeting of the Washington Community School Board will be on Wednesday, November 9th, at 7:00 pm at the School Board’s Central Office in Washington.
