Main Street Washington has announced that Samantha Meyer has been hired to fill the vacant role of Executive Director. Meyer has several years of experience in fundraising, grant writing, donor and volunteer recruitment, and event planning, which were traits that the hiring board was looking for according to Main Street Washington Board President Maddie Widmer.

Previously Meyer had been involved with marketing and business relations for Kalona Cooperative Technology Company (KCTC) and previously served as the Development Coordinator for the Washington County Hospital Foundation.

When Widmer spoke with KCII, she talked about how event planning ability would be one of the main things the board would be looking at. “We want to expand our event offerings, and we want our next candidate to be great with event planning and also excel in bringing sponsorships and other partnerships and to work with business owners so that they know how vital main street is to the community.”

The first events expected to be under the supervision of Meyer will be during the winter schedule.
